HMRC Let Property Campaign

| 10th July 2014

In recent weeks, we have received a number of queries in relation to letters received from HMRC asking about undeclared rental income.

If you are renting a property, and have not told HMRC, then you may soon be the recipient of one of these letters. HMRC are combing through land registry records, and comparing the data to that requested from estate agencies and property management companies to put together a list of people who have undeclared rental income.

So if you have received one of these letters, or even if you haven’t and are renting out your property, we urge you to disclose the information to HMRC in order to minimise any potential penalties you may face.

The easiest way is to get in touch with a chartered accountant, who will be able to take care of the whole thing for you.
